Thanks all for your positive responses, and John, it looks like I will be phoning you in the next couple of days for those drawings.

Being blessed by being able to move the Coupe into the Canadian Owner Maintenance category, there are certain modifications I can make without a whole bunch of paperwork. The guys at Transport Canada all seem to be flying enthusiasts, and have been supportive, at least in my area. As for equipment to do the conversion, I have more than several hours at the wrong end of a bucking bar on a buddies RV7A, so it may be time to pull in the favour. The Coupe is a 'D', so going split tail would seem to be a good move, even though I have walked away from all the landings so far. The plane is apart now, having the paint removed, hopefully to be polished, the C-85 is getting a new 0-200 crank etc. The spar has been checked and came up clean, the inspector was a big lad, so I got the honours of checking those difficult to get at rivets. If the coupe ends up looking half as good as Syd's, I will be well happy.

On another note, this coupe has been to Oshkosh at least 4 times flown by a previous owner, between the years 1987 and '91. I would be interested to hear from anyone that was there in those years, and remembers seeing CF-TSS.

Thanks again. John Huthart.

The recent posts regarding rigging for the split elevator made me wonder if it is possible to convert the earlier straight elevator to the split style.

Yes, it is possible.  Skyport has the factory drawings.  The legality of such a conversion is up for grabs, though.
