Al, The A&P instructed me to use TCP in the fuel. He also mentioned something that could be put in the oil as well. I remember someone talking about an approved additive for oil to help deal with lead. Does anyone know what that might be?

An exchange cylinder, with piston rings is about $250 so let the guy make a few bucks. When you do an exchange, you must send the piston and when you o/h a cylinder it only makes sense to send the piston along. The rope trick is common knowledge among piston airplane mechanics. > > You need to think about your fuel. The lead in 100LL may be too much for the little engine and is causing the valve problems. Think about TCP or using a 50/50 mix of that foul smelling auto gas from the pump. > > Al DeMarzo > Visit the Ercoupe Swap Page - Free and Easy > http://www.ercoupeowners.com/swap/swapbook.htm > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: fnelson913 > To: [email protected] > Sent: Monday, October 22, 2007 2:59 PM > Subject: [ercoupe-tech] Sticky Valve Saga > > > I got my Ercoupe back from the "let's replace everything" A&P along > with a bill for $800.00 in labor and $50.00 worth of parts.
