I use TCP in fuel and AVBlend in the oil. However I don't think AVBlend is meant to deal with lead. Maybe he was talking Marvel Mystery Oil? I do know for a fact that TCP is meant to deal with lead and that both TCP and AVBlend are FAA approved, while Marvel Mystery Oil is not.
Some people like AVBlend (I do), some people don't. Listen to all sides before making your own decision. By the way TCP is getting very hard to get. Both a local store in Fort Worth and Wag Aero ran out, with Wag Aero saying it won't be available until January!!?? Anybody know a source who's got TCP on stock? He also mentioned something that could be put in the oil as well. I remember someone talking about an approved additive for oil to help deal with lead. Does anyone know what that might be? An exchange cylinder, with piston rings is about $250 so let the guy make a few bucks. When you do an exchange, you must send the piston and when you o/h a cylinder it only makes sense to send the piston along. The rope trick is common knowledge among piston airplane mechanics. > > You need to think about your fuel. The lead in 100LL may be too much for the little engine and is causing the valve problems.
