Since the Ercoupe wasn't manufactured with an CHT/EGT gauge, these are not
replacing anything. I wonder if these can be put in as supplemental gauges.
Maybe the way to work around the rules is just to use them to our benefit.
What are the opinions of the IA's on the group? I know mine would go for it.

If you do consider the Stratomaster, here is the info I got when I asked them
for information:

Of course an Ercoupe is a certified aircraft and therefore approval is
required to change the avionics. This is quite a large modification.

Yes, any avionics shop can install our products. They are fairly easy to
install (most installs are done by owners of Experimental aircraft).

The radio is set to be approx $800 when available in Jan/Feb.

Here is some information on the Odyssey:

We should have information on our web site within the next month. But, you
can use the Enigma features as a guide to what the Odyssey will do
(www.stratomaster.com/enigma). The Odyssey runs basically the same software
(allowing the same user-flexibility in terms of what is displayed), but it has
a faster processor, and a much more expensive TFT display, with much more
screen real estate.

The prelimenary absolute outside dimensions of the Odyssey are
  12.5" wide x 8" high

Mounting depth is approx 3 inches, with a few exceptions where cables exit
the rear.

The Odyssey is priced at $2,995 for the panel itself. Compare to the Enigma,
which is $1,995. Whereas the Enigma full package with AHRS sensors and engine
sensors is about $3,600, an Odyssey package is under $5,000, with all
available options.

Here is a typical package for a 4-cyl engine:

  Odyssey - $2,995
  RDAC Xb - $159
  SP-2 compass sensor - $185
  SP-4 attitude sensor - $825
  4 x EGT @ $40 - $160
  4 x CHT @ $26 - $104
  1 x fuel flow sensor - $145
  1 x SD card - $50
  1 x backup battery - $30

  Total approx $4,635 + shipping

We are going to start shipping in November. We already have quite a long
reservation list, so let us know if you woud like to get on.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

  Thanks!

  Matt
