Eliacim, I considered also your CHT and EGT arrangement. Could you send a picture of your instrument panel? It seems the downside is available space as I would like to keep the glove box doors in place to keep it looking original as possible. I also thought of removing the cardboard glove box and putting gages there, but leaving the doors in place. Of course, you then have to open the door to see the gages. I heard of someone doing that but using some sort of quick release hinge so you could just remove the doors during flight, thus while on the ground, still save the original appearance. Darick
-------------- Original message -------------- From: "heavensounds" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> I pondered that very same question for a long time, before installing a simple, inexpensive Westach CHT setup, with one meter and a switch that selects between the 4 cylinders. I also purchased a similar (4 probes and one meter, with a switch to select the cylinder being monitored) Alcor EGT setup, which I have yet to install. For me, having access to each individual cylinder is important, as a troubleshooting and diagnostic aid. Last year I spent 2 months troubleshooting a low RPM problem, eventually traced to a broken cam follower on the intake valve of cylinder 1. I did not have the CHT setup then, which would have quickly pointed to cyl 1 as the source, and saved me a lot of time wasted checking elsewhere (carburetor, etc.). Downside: I found my Westach cylinder CHT selector switch to be sometimes intermittent, however it is not expensive to replace. It has a 0 SMOH C-85-12 with the 0-200 STC and new ECI cylinders. The engine was by Premium Aircraft LLC - Ft. Smith. I would like to have CHT and EGT gauges installed but find gauges from under $100 to over $1000, that monitor One cylinder or all Four cylinders. What are the correct gauges to install?
