Sounds okay and I guess when it comes down to it that can only be right. At
our speeds I wonder what difference it makes. Although we can't feel it in the
control wheel, how much of that extra force is being taken up by the bushings
and bearings, leading to eventual wear?
Something to ponder, I guess.

There is one more point that was pointed out to me by my FAA guy. It
is that not only are the 6 plys heaver, they are stiffer and transmit
more landing force to the landing and then to the wing. I don't think
that he was wrong? what do you think? makes sence to me. Mark

find interesting. I'm sharing this because I went from a 6 ply back
to the 4 ply on my Bonanza and will do it when the tire is worn on
the Coupe. This was based upon a discussion on the Bonanza list
which although highly reliable, gave me the incentive to do the
  research and comparisons myself.

every extra ounce on a flying machine counts, especially on the
Ercoupe. Given the station that the extra weight is placed, I wonder
how much it changes the flight characteristics. The Ercoupe's nose
and load is well within the limits of weight that a 4 ply is designed
for. Do you really get any more wear from a 6 ply? There's no
additional tread depth! If there was any money saved, it was minimal.
