Dan,  

Be advised that a C-75 and a C-85 are the same engine with minor
modifications that cost peanuts compared to the price of an airplane.
There's a fair chance the engine did have the modifications but the
documentation wasn't done.  If the changes were not actually made, it's a
fairly minor thing to make the changes.

Considering the greatly increasing value of C and CD Ercoupes, we're seeing
more of them being resurrected and restored.  There will be someone who
really doesn't care much if the cabin section comes from one original Coupe
while the wings, tail cone, gear, firewall-forward, etc., come from another.
The quality of the workmanship will be key.

I'm glad to see these planes flying.  Having said that, being cautious in
your purchase is also very, very wise.
