No one knows what a pre-buy is - it can be anything from a thorough
pre-flight to almost an annual, and anything in between. Pre-buy has no
defined
scope and detail.

True, a "pre - buy can" be done by the line boy. Two wings, couple tires
inflated,
no big puddles under the airplane - Good to go. Pay for an annual
inspection and
negotiate the price on the discrepancies with the seller. You should be
able to get
an Ercoupe annual inspection for what some will charge for a "pre - buy".
Make sure
the annual is done by a knowledgeable Ercoupe A.I.
