Lee,

I have yet to fly a Coupe or even fly in one. You are all telling me
what a great experience I am about to have when my bird is
ready to fly, some time in April I hope.

It would take a lot of fun out of that wonderful experience if my mind
was on that crack, especially in rough air.

I have been told that many coupes have this crack, but it isn't noticed as it
is smaller in most cases. Don't look at yours with a magnifying glass unless
you want to see a crack.

Contact me off line or on my cell phone at 715-573-7063. I think you've got
the facts terribly backwards.

Be careful what you wish for. If indeed Univair found it necessary to
address a problem with a crack in the spar, the ENTIRE FLEET, that's right, the
ENTIRE FLEET could be grounded. Overall statements of what Univair should be
doing must be avoided at all costs. Cracks should be addressed by individual
mechanics based on the crack guidelines already published, but which are now
teetering. When the current stock of spars are gone, what do you think it
would cost for another run? Are you willing to pay $11K for the parts?

Never wish for or agree with the establishment of an AD. I'm still reeling
at the imbecile with the EOC who was interviewed about a pending AD and agreed
that it was a good idea. When asked these types of questions, one should
consider a buzz off and let the structural engineers address it.

SMK60 is a reinforcement for the rib. I don't believe that it is a fix
for a
cracked rib - only a reinforcement to prevent such crack. The crack is
in
Glenn's spar cap and that is the crack that I think Univair should address
      a fix for.
