Something stated earlier piqued my interest.
I just got finished reviewing the regulations pertaining to private pilot privileges and medical certificates and I cannot find justification for performing preventive maintenance as a private pilot without a medical certificate. Essentially, there are a number of exclusions listed for which a medical certificate is not required, and preventive maintenance isn't one of them. (ref 61.23(b)) So, if you're commenting, maybe this should be added to the comments (or not. sleeping dogs and all that.)
