Hi Ed,
Well said. SoCal / LA basin often has MVFR with no cloud (3 miles in haze is
common) with no cloud, or easily avoidable cloud (dissipating coastal stratus).
My goal is to avoid the clouds. Deliberately flying VFR into clouds is a bad
idea however; I'll refrain from any name calling.

I refer to that whole group as [deleted] or Schmucks.

  What do you call them?

I call us "bold pilots" who've just gone to "take a look" to see if we could
get through. You know the saying about old and bold pilots.

Many of us have survived and gotten over being "bold pilots."

Others did not survive that experience and, when we remember them, we might
discuss their final mistake as we encourage listeners to not be bold pilots.

(who twice survived his "bold pilot" encounter with a cloud on the way to
growing up and becoming a timid VFR pilot)
