Had a single 96C GPS. (The 96C does not have the pseudo panel that its bigger brothers sport; it is considerably smaller and cheaper, but like any Garmin, it knows where it's at.) Then Nov. before last, (casting about for a Christmas present for me, I thought) my wife told me I should have a 2nd GPS in case the #1 craps out. Sounded like a plan. Found a real good deal on eBay. So when I Ercoupe along, I have #1 GPS on map display, #2 on various numbers which I find of interest (e.g. speed, time & dist. to destination and so on), and the gyros for good measure. The instruments I took out for the gyros weighed about the same. The real weight reduction that is needed is in the vicinity of my belt. I'm adding the 1320# STC. And, like I said, I'm keeping my glove box doors and the panel stripes, albeit the panel sorely needs a paint job. I really like the authentic art-deco look (had a '42 Packard ambulance that taught me about authenticity) - while I hope this does not offend, personally I don't care for "modernized" panels, even though my GPSs awkwardly hang from Ram Mounts and the whole affair does not have a "clean" look. "Different stokes" and all that. Have pretzel yokes, too.
