Hartmut, I think the statement that "we are all supposed to have a turn and bank indicator" came from a pretty definitive assertion from John Cooper. I can agree. I think it's a wise thing to have one gyro (or electronic pseudo-gyro) instrument, just in case. The downside is that it makes you braver and more inclined to just "go take a look" at the weather - a notoriously dangerous thing to do. There are those who say, keep it simple with only the absolute minimum of instruments and be crazy-careful to stay away from clouds. Others say you should be very careful to stay away from clouds but have a backup instrument and practice to be sure you can use it for a minute or so. I can see merit in both arguments. I think this one has to go in the different strokes for different folks category. JMHO Ed
