Hartmut, the engine is certainly not new, but has an overhaul in the last 10
yrs with about 400 hours on it. In annual checked out very strong and the
operating temps are normal.

Craig

You did not mention the oil temperature you are reading when the pressure drops.

I noticed that a multi Vis oil will drop the pressure being hot. Try 100W oil
and see whether there is a difference.

You don't need multi vis oil in a hot environment.

Also, how old is the engine , how many hours are on it? If the engine is old
enough and the main bearings are worn, you are probably better off with thick
based stock oil.

Subject: [ercoupe-tech] oil pressure

As I've flown my C-85 coupe more these hot days, I have noted that when I first
start the engine, oil pressure is in the 30-40 lb range. Then after I am at
cruise, it runs at about 21 lbs or in the middle of the caution range. I asked
my a&p and he thinks it probably has to do with the multi-vis oil warming up
and the ranges were set long before multi-viscosity was available. He also has
another customer with a C-75 coupe that runs in the same range. So what oil
pressure does your coupe sit at when cruising?

btw, solved the brake problem where the pedal needed adjustment and was binding
a bit.
