Thanks for the reply Noel. Glad to hear that you are able to have success with
a very similar problem. I too will keep a close eye on everything.

Subject: Re: [ercoupe-tech] oil pressure
Hi Craig;
I saw your post on the Ercoupe forum,. I have a Continental A-65 in my
Vagabond that has a similar history of oil pressure issues.
I start out at 48 psi when cold... and the pressure slowly falls as the
engine warms up after takeoff. The lowest it ever gets in cruise is 25
psi running at 2150 rpm and the lowest is at idle 10 psi. I talked with
my A&P and he advised as long as there was 1 psi per 10 rpms that was
fine. The engine doesn't get above 170 deg F on the oil temp gauge. I
do oil analysis with Blackstone every 25 hrs and use Aeroshell 100W
Plus. Only burn about 1 qt oil every 10 hours or so.The engine has
450 hrs since overhaul 17 years ago. The logbook shows new oil pump
gears where installed at that time.
If I'm making a stop I wonder what the oil pressure will be on takeoff
with the engine hot and find that at full throttle the reading is 30+.
Oh well......hopefully there isn't a problem. I've been running the
engine this way for the past 3 years with no problems and no issues with
the oil analysis.
I like to fly Ercoupes and occasionally find one to fly.....Great
airplane!!!!
