My statement was not that a PP has more training in maintaining a certified aircraft, rather that the PP has been exposed to the requirements, i.e. who can perform maintenance, how it must be logged, etc. The holder of a light sport certificate (as opposed to the holder of a PP certificate who happens to be flying under the light sport regs) was not exposed to maintenance requirements for certificated aircraft in the course of his light sport training.
