The Faa official that answered my letter was from 9-amc-afs750. That is the
main FAA office in Okla. City.

Question: If you are a Sport pilot or flying as a sport pilot would you fly my
coupe?\

Skip Carden is working this issue with the FAA.

We hope, someday, that the FAA will rule that any Coupe which did not have
an airworthiness certificate changed was never legally upgraded.

If so, it's still its original model.

But we need a ruling from on high, not just a letter from a local FSDO
staffer before a bunch of people bet their hard earned money on buying a
plane.

The people with a local letter may be OK no matter what. Just keep that
letter in your files.

The FAA doesn't seem to have any particular interest in whether a few Coupes
are eligible or not. But they do have an interest in what, exactly, is
involved in a model change. We want to tread carefully to try and get a
ruling we like, not just a snap decision that rules against us.
