If you have a leaking carburetor, you will have no other choice then draing the 
header tank and then taking the fuel valeve apart. (after your Chekride of 
course)

It is easily done. I did not need a heat device when I did that. 

Clean and verify ease of function . Put back together.

I was out practicing my Ercoupe taxi skills today since I am not checked out 
yet to fly (tomorrow the CFI is scheduled). Sure was tempting to just make a 
circuit or two without a BFR or checkout when nobody was really watching.
Anyhow, I turned on the fuel to start, turned it off when I was at the fuel 
pumps refueling, back on to start again, the valve acted quite normal. When I 
got back to the hangar, the darned fuel valve would not shut off! It seems to 
be locked in the on position, I used a lot of force even, still no turn off! 
Has anyone else had such a problem with the fuel shutoff valve?
