Help from anyone: I have a very rough 85 hp engine. In an effort to smooth
out the vibration, I had the prop balanced, engine mounts retorqued twice
(55 inch pounds and at 60 inch pounds. The vibration is still there. Now I
have the new spinner off that I bought from Univair, (skyport does not sell
spinners) and now I noticed that the front plate on the spinner is a real
soft material.. My 85 hp has a spline shaft and the washers under the nuts
are nearly pushes into the soft plate with the 25 foot pounds torque. To
remove the front plate I must drive the prop bolts back to release the
plate. The aluminium is smashed into the threads from the front plate. My
number one question is how can I stop the vibration or quiet it down for the
sake of the airframe and the number two question is am I using too much
torque on the metal prop bolts?
