Unless the engine has a lot of excess friction, it should always stop
half way between TDC on one piston and the next one in the firing order.
It doesn't matter which piston(s) we are talking about, all 4 such
positions look the same. The only difference is which prop blade is in
a given position. (Even fixed pitch props have a #1 blade, but it is
not of much value to know which is which.) If yours does not
consistently and the cylinders are not brand new (high friction) I'd
want to know why!
