Well, I have been flying mine that way, crosswinds and all.  I never liked my 
landings much though, and now feel lucky that I did not do some damage landing 
with the stuck struts.  I don't think there is very much spring action either 
way.  Don't forget, the donuts AND the hydraulics are always working together.
