We have the Airtex upholstery and panel kit in my daughter's PA-28-140 and it hasn't held up well during the subsequent four Annual R&R events. The plastic honeycomb backing is very fragile. As a direct result of this experience, during the restoration of Ercoupe N3372H we kept the aluminum backing on the side panels as we are confident it will hold up for another 64 years. I'm also restoring my PA-28-150 and will rebuild all of the side panel upholstery with new aluminum backing (made in 0.016 2024-T3) rather than replacing the fiberboard. -- Chris Koch Buffalo, New York
