David, One advantage I believe the snubber cable gave me, in my recent off- airport landing in a plowed field: in executing a soft-field landing, I was able to hold the nose gear up out of the furrows until almost all forward momentum was gone before it touched. If the nose wheel had hung down any lower, I believe it may well have dug into the soft dirt before the forward momentum stopped, which could well have flipped my plane, as I've seen (in pictures) has happened to other Ercoupes. I'm usually on the side of historical accuracy, but in this instance, it felt like having the nose gear up may have saved me. Linda N3437H (Sky Sprite) L.A.
