I think there is a lot of proprietary stuff in all CAD programs. The free
version (4.1) of TC will only read .dxf from AutoCAD R12. I think you have the
option to save in AutoCAD R12 .DXF in TC 8.1, is this so?
AutoCAD has paper space and model space.
I put a couple of hours into an engine drawing tonight. It is my pancake
radial engine with 3 cat cylinders (as soon as I can figure out to truncate a
cone into another cone). I know the idea has been refuted, but I was curious to
see how it looks. I'm up to 24k file size, so to fit in 40k I'll have to leave
off some stuff, like only one catalyst cylinder and create center points for
the others. Looks kind of sci fi, stay tuned.
JOY Joy Joy I drew the thing in Autocad r14 saved at 24kb, but when I
converted to R12 it shrunk to 6kb! I easily read it with my TurboCAD 4.1 (free
version). Lost nothing.
