As I mentioned at the meeting last night, a well designed aerospike will actually show less performance than an optimized standard nozzle at SL.
That's true...
Thus, I would conclude that the Aerotech standard nozzle is not well designed.
...that's also true (with the caveat that they are designing for cost, ease of manufacture, and end user safety, not performance)...
Their claim of improved efficiency is not persuading proof to me of aerospike activity.
...and that's a good point.
Putting on my DA (Devil's Advocate) hat: what constitutes aerospike activity? And how can you tell you have it?
