There's a very interesting article over on SpaceDaily about testemony
given to the Columbia Accident Investigation Board by Robert Thompson,
the Shuttle Program Manager from 1970 - 1981. A lot of the early
claims were completely bogus and a lot of the design and performance
limitations don't seem to be part of the current NASA methodology.
