Many turbofans for subsonic speeds come with intakes -- you buy the
complete engine package, not just the turbomachinery.  Boeing doesn't
build intakes for 747s.  (A returning flyback booster is a lot more like
an airliner than a fighter.)  This does require an engine position clear 
of the body, perhaps deployed after reentry, but that may be a good idea
anyway.
