Just right JC, agreed on every subject, with some more :
*SCSI is better, faster, smarter and more expensive than IDE and adaptec are
the best for some 10 years.... the more cache\buffering you get the best and
more money spent.....
*IDE has a maximum of 4 devices unless you put some on USB> it could be an
issue if you are going to have a CD-burner, a DVD player, a ZIP drive and a
couple of HD for example
*double HD setups are specially good since you can use one for booting and
the other for storage, this situation is specially pleasant when of the
drives fail and/or you need to reformat just one of them and not the only HD
you have... you can always make it a twin system...
*load as muach memory as you can 3*256 is a good shot
*MB can be important if you want to use a sound and/or a video card...
sometimes it4s a good pratice to spend some cash on them rather than going
for onboard solutions...
*at last but not at least go for a cable or better connection, remeber
wireless connection mean less security, your neighbours can plug into your
network even without your permission/knowledge....
*like someone once said, a plextor is a plextor in the same way as the who
is the who....
*win XP can let you down with some of freeware you need to burn besides the
scanners problem... I still remeber uncle bill showing off how good his
win95 was and went into demonstrating how he could easily scan and alas....
it did not work!!!!! now some 7 years later and with less gates @
presentations, the talking still remains the same.... lol..... but then we
all hope one day soon it will all be solved so you can experience it to its
full extent... pay now and get it some time later when everyone outside MS
can have time to develope hard+soft for XP....(i don4t like this line of
thought but i see that4s what the sheep can do except for making some noise
now and again...)
all the best, keep on surfin4....
