Sorry to make a post like this, but I've reached the end of my rope, so to
speak. For several months now, my computer has been randomly shutting down,
and then starting right back up. Its almost like a flicker....the way I've
described it in the past is like someone is just barely taking the power
cord out, and putting it right back in....The screen goes blank for an
instant, and then it goes right into boot mode.
I asked about this a while ago, and people recommended a new power
supply. I'm currently running a cd drive, a cd-r, two HD's,a SCSI card, a
digi-soundcard, and two ethernet cards on a 200 watt power supply. Alot of
people recommended a 300 watt supply, but the guy at Gateway told me I would
fry my motherboard if I upgraded to a 300 watt. He sold me on a new 200
watt. I installed it today, but tonite I ran into my problem, a random
shutdown.
AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm sorry to go on about this, but I've been dealing with it for about 5
months, and its driving me crazy.
What are my options? Do I need a new motherboard? That seems a bit silly to
me, but I'm willing to do whatever I need to to get this figured out. I'm
trying to run a server and do digital-audio work, and I can't deal with this
shit.
any thoughts are more than welcome.
thanks,
P1
