The clients are using imap and not pop to check their mail and SMTP to send.
The server is Slackware 8.1, the mail server is sendmail. The only 2 email programs they use are phpGroupware and Mozilla. I didn't try it with sendmail but I did try sending to 4 internal people with pine and they disappeared. I just sent 4 test messages to your addresses. Did you get them?
