This isn't linux related but it's sort of on the topic of engineering...

I'm looking to buy an FM transmitter and am looking specifically at 2 products that are supposedly superior in their transmitting power...

They both connect to the cigarette lighter. The first connects to the headphone jack. The 2nd connects to the data port and also charges the ipod.

Question: Which do you think would have better sound quality, or would there be no difference? I know the data port one outputs the audio as a line-out with no change in the volume controls. So this sounds a little better to me than having to find the sweet spot in the volume. But I'm not sold on the 2nd option yet because of the next question...

Question: I believe the iPod battery is Lithium Ion. Since I listen to audio books and podcasts on the way to work and back I'm concerned that the short increments in battery charge everyday might have a negative impact on the battery. Would this be true? Does LiIon have the memory effect?

Thanks,
Rob
