First of all, I was not discrediting him. I mean that "I'm sure"
things have changed since then, because if they didn't, then the
OpenBSD project would not exist today. But now that you mention it, I
was curious to see if things really HAVE changed. Looking at the
misc@ archives for last month, I can easily find posts that bring out
the best of Theo and the traditional OpenBSD attitude:

http://archives.neohapsis.com/archives/openbsd/2005-12/0053.html

And then someone blames it on the vendor, and not the driver...
http://archives.neohapsis.com/archives/openbsd/2005-12/0056.html

And some more welcoming comments from the OpenBSD users...
http://archives.neohapsis.com/archives/openbsd/2005-12/0062.html

Then a handful of ashamed OpenBSD users apologize for the group...
http://archives.neohapsis.com/archives/openbsd/2005-12/0095.html

Everyone realizes it's all fake, and we hear more encouraging words
from the users...

I don't know how many times I've seen this stuff on that particular
mailing list. It looks like the "if you don't like it, go away"
attitude is still strong among OpenBSD users/developers. Like I said,
NetBSD suits my needs so I'm not really all that excited about whether
or not the OpenBSD crowd is more accepting now. I don't see anything
that OpenBSD has, that NetBSD (or Linux for that matter) doesn't have
and that I would really need.

Stop what exactly?
