Anyone had good luck with fink on intel macs?
I think I've got enough cruft installed that is depending on Rosetta (not using universal binaries) that my machine suffers intermittently :(

I've heard fink on intel wasn't ironed out yet, but haven't been keeping up too closely... I'm guessing that if I use it to get source and compile tools myself I'll be much better off.

XFree86 on osx was pretty good for me for a while

DVD to do the install, or get an Apple Dev account and download from their
dev site).

Also, if you just need some standard *nix stuff that's not in OS X, there's
DarwinPorts (http://darwinports.opendarwin.org/) and Fink
( http://fink.sourceforge.net/). The combination of all those got me through
about five months of working with my G5 at work before I said eff it and now
it dual boots with Ubuntu-PPC.
