Since you asked, I picked up 1000 ft at Jerry's for about $60. Home Depot wanted $90. Wall jacks are $5 each or $30 for 10 if buying Leviton (good quality IMHO). The plates aren't more than a buck or two. Cheap crimpers are less than $15, good ones start at about $40. Cat5/6 ends shouldn't be more than $0.50 each in bulk. The best time to crawl around your attic is between 10pm and 10am. Under the house works anytime. The extra long drill bit for getting through anything will cost you up to $30. If you're running cable, don't run it too close to your electric lines to reduce interference.
Lastly, in case you're wondering, I've done this all before and just re-did most of it this weekend and dropped two jacks into 3 out of 4 rooms. Won't take much to add another line to the other room if needed. In the short term, the wireless card is alot cheaper for one PC. --- Bob Miller <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Rob Hudson wrote: > > > What's that entail? What's the potential cost?
