If you've run lots & lots of wire through walls, attics & crawl spaces in remodeled & re-remodeled corporate buildings, wiring you're own house should be a cinch -- minus the scenario of pulling wire through the attic if you have fiberglass or asbestos insulation! ;-) However, these days with wireless, it's much easier to use then wiring your own house. The own pro I definitely see of using wired versus wireless, if you use rsync for backup or you're planning on hosting streaming media (especially video media). If you're lucky, Divx is probably the only suitable streaming media for a wireless network -- most things are still MPEG2. I would prefer to just wire my own home as I sometimes do a little of everything (backups & streaming including vncviewer). If you're just doing email and browsing the web, I'd just go wireless. I have a wireless router and seems to work best with my wireless laptop. -- Roger http://www.eskimo.com/~roger/index.html Key fingerprint = 8977 A252 2623 F567 70CD 1261 640F C963 1005 1D61 _______________________________________________ EUGLUG mailing list [email protected] http://www.euglug.org/mailman/listinfo/euglug
