If I went for AC with regen, I think the batteries would be fully charged by the time I got down to the bottom of the big hill. The next stretch to work is pretty short. The downhill bit at the work end is only a couple of hundred yards, and going the other way I can avoid it if I don't mind potentially stopping at a few sets of lights.
