I was considering that the lower power availability and shorter life span of a separate small pack would be mitigated by such a light load and small draw-down of the down-hill leg, but it looks like one is left with two bad choices, either a large lead-acid pack that is likely too heavy or a high-end pack that is likely too expensive.
