Hello, I've bought a conversion (1984 VW Rabbit, converted in 1998), and have been working to clean it up and get it working again.
The battery and racks had a lot of sulfuric acid build up, which I removed using water and baking soda. Now all the acid is gone, I need to prep the racks. They still have some rust on them from where the paint had been eaten away. The more expensive fix would be to have the racks sand blasted and re-painted. A cheaper route might be to use one of the rust stabilizing products available at the local hardware store. Any advice? Thanks, ....Ken
