Thanks Alan. I'm waiting for someone to point out a deficiency(ies) in my design.
Someone has informed me that the romex wire I used (because I had some lying around and its good for high voltage) for the current sense meters would not be allowed in automotive applications because it's single stranded (break with vibration). I'm not too worried about it and may be removing the meters all together, the battery current one was broken out of the box (cheap) and the motor current one is only marginally useful. They both have too high of a range (600A) for this application, not enough resolution for just driving around at 100A, etc. Someone else has expressed concern about my wooden spacers under the seats saying that they would disintegrate in a crash. I think that guy is nutso. The force on the spacers would be compressive, you can't squeeze a wooden block into nothingness. Overall I tried to keep costs down. And failed! -Chris http://evalbum.com/4743 ________________________________ From: Alan Brinkman <[email protected]> To: Electric Vehicle Discussion List <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, September 24, 2013 5:15 PM Subject: Re: [EVDL] EV grin Chris, I am impressed with your web site and build of the BMW into an electric vehicle. Your experience with electric vehicles shows. I like the unique solutions to some of the issues. Yours is a combination of get it done, practical solutions, slick engineering....... I like the air conditioning set up and bracket. I like the battery mounts / straps. I like the seat mounts. I would have stalled and still been trying to figure out the seat mounts while you are done and driving a registered vehicle. Good for you, well done!
