What brand cells have you tested, and how large a sample size of each? Were
they all new cells purchased from the manufacturer by you? What chemistries
were tested, and the sample size of each? Was there significant variation
in lifetime between the different chemistries? What were the cycling
conditions?

I have posted this information as I get it, over and over, on the EVDL. Frankly, people don't really want to hear it. If someone just bought $10,000 worth of batteries, they don't want to hear that there could be any problems. People fervently *want* to believe that they are wonderful.

How did you arrive at the conclusion that "most lithiums are shot in 3-5
years"?

Because over the past 8 years, I have bought or borrowed lithium cells from a number of suppliers. I only get small quantities, just to test. I've tested Thundersky, CALB, GBS, A123, Sanyo, and most recently Blackhawk. I'm not rich enough, nor confident enough, to buy an entire pack.

Did you survey all the ev owners on the evalbum that have had
lithium cells for more than 5 years?

I do read them (just like many others). Some are very promising! Others are sad stories.

Without answers to such questions it is impossible to know how useful the
statements are.

I agree. It's all really just anecdotal data. I wish I had the time and resources to do thorough testing, and publish all the results for free! But I don't. No one does. Anyone who does do this kind of in-depth testing is likely to keep the information to themselves, for a competitive advantage. If a manufacturer has found a source of good cheap batteries, he's not about to give that information away to his competitors.
