Thanks! That's a useful datapoint. I don't think my hydrostatic
transmission is that far gone; with the ICE, I could apply maximum
acceleration from a standstill at idle throttle without noticing
significant load on the engine. At any rate, I'm game to keep trying the
conversion, if only to be an example to others of what happens when one is
pigheaded... Thanks for the pointer to the Optima batteries, looks like
Optima yellow top are another option for high-quality true deep-cycle AGM
batteries that I should check into. Prices look roughly similar to the Deka.
