Well said, Martin. I too would prefer the 40kwh pack. Why invest in 1.5x or 2x,
or needlessly use up that battery plant capacity. I would though like to be
able to add or swap in up to 2x at the first supercharger station and return it
there on the return leg, should I take any long trips.

24kwh packs are marginally sized for MN, this winter we're close to an all time
record for length/amount of cold much of it below zero F. I'm curious to know
how the leaf's are holding up.

Chris.

Hi John,

I agree about having a big battery pack. I just don't see the point in hauling
around an ICE and all its associated 'stuff' when, as you say, the vast
majority of daily driving done by most vehicles does not require one - in
exactly the same way that a large pack is generally not needed. All that is
required is a slightly adjusted mental attitude and a good fast-charge
infrastructure. Then you have all the servicing relating costs and hassle to
contend with. All this just isn't there with a full EV.

Were I to buy a Model S it would 100% be the 60kWh version - if they still did
the 40kWh I'd 1005 have that, instead. My beef with the ICE principally lies
in its appalling inefficiency. Directly connected with that is the fact that
it uses (wastes, really) a finite resource and in doing so mucks up the
atmosphere - maybe causing global warming and ultimately very badly affecting
the human race and most other biological systems on the planet - or not. Who
knows? I don't but what I think is inescapably true is, that by the time we
know it is true, it will be far too late to do anything about it. Meanwhile
lots of fat cats, who are so deeply in the pockets of those who control our
lives (probably for the worse), get fatter and most of then couldn't care less
what it costs us as a direct consequence of their greed (and our complacency).

So, ICE? No thanks. End of. The other side of this is that I just really
don't mind the idea of driving for a couple of hours and then charging/having a
rest for 30 minutes - you arrive feeling very relaxed rather than completely
worn out, and you drive much more safely due to nit getting tired and
irritable. Bear in mind, tho, that I don't have kids... (Dad, are we there
yet? No, we're just stopping for half an hour to re-charge. ****WHAT?!****
I'm going to miss CBeeBies!!!!!)
