I liken it to some 'us too' Nissan marketing since Tesla offers free charging. As far as your area already having free charging = so what?!? Lets take a look at a couple regions of the country: http://www.plugshare.com looking at only the L3 there are a couple of Nissan dealerships with down EVSE. Farther out, there are plenty of Tesla SuperStations surrounding that city. looking at the L2, there are some that are listed on plugshare but drivers say there is none, others says GE Wattstations are operational but security will chase you out (its a private EVSE), then there is http://api.plugshare.com/view/location/13259 which is $2hr+$1 additional hr just for parking. Looking in California (one of the major states Nissan is marketing to), at L2 near the Silicon Valley area http://api.plugshare.com/view/location/7830 ChargePoint $1 per hour; $1 min http://api.plugshare.com/view/location/7837 ChargePoint $1./hour, min. $1. Parking rates apply. http://api.plugshare.com/view/location/6277 ChargePoint fees apply http://api.plugshare.com/view/location/14231 $1.25/hour http://api.plugshare.com/view/location/9956 $0.75/hour charge with min $0.50 GE WattStation/Blink/ChargePoint $1/hr is quite low for that area as if you go north toward SF it can go higher than $3/hr. Also, note the last one, as it has different EVSE vendors. This is happening more and more at EVSE sites. Hosts get a better deal from a competing EVSE company and install theirs, etc. But, Nissan's 1-card will work on different EVSE brands. Whether is it L2 or L3 you are charging from, it can be a sweet deal in California. *I would say you seem to have found the free ones in your area, and be happy about it while they are free. Just know that not all EVSE is free outside your area. Anyways use the EV charging finder sites, like plugshare, to know what is available and its cost long before you make that trip. {brucedp.150m.com} - On Fri, Apr 18, 2014, at 11:58 AM, [email protected] wrote: > People seem to be excited about Nissan's plan to offer free charging to > LEAF > owners, but I've never seen a public charger that wasn't free to use. > Is free charging unique to the Raleigh/Durham NC area? - -- http://www.fastmail.fm - A no graphics, no pop-ups email service _______________________________________________ UNSUBSCRIBE: http://www.evdl.org/help/index.html#usub http://lists.evdl.org/listinfo.cgi/ev-evdl.org For EV drag racing discussion, please use NEDRA (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/NEDRA)
