The roads are already "squishy" enough. As was posted "roads already flex when vehicles drive over them". Almost everything flexes when a load is put on it. We used piezoelectric devices to measure stress and strain on metal parts when put under loads. Why? Because they could easily be attached to the samples without changing the stress or strain on the sample. The electric currents produced were mathematically converted into stress and strain values.
