Spending the time to be more through on an upcoming news item posts, I found
a [dated] post in the archive:

http://electric-vehicle-discussion-list.413529.n4.nabble.com/Varsovia-pl-s-2018-e-mobile-office-concept-EV-r-350km-td4683702.html

When I clicked to lauch the page's URL in that post [
https://electrek.co/2016/09/02/varsovia-motor-electric-concept-car-mobile-office/;cid=1477596389281-127
], it failed.

(Feder of NJ asks: )

-So why would a not so old link suddenly be no good?
-Did the media outlet pull the story?
-Did brucedp put the wrong URL?
-Why won't the page load?

(Feder sure asks a lotta questions for someone from NJ ... )
/mode off]

Answer: the nabble archive attaches a cid= number to the end of any link in
a post. See the mail-archive of that evdl post which does not attach a cid
number to posted URLs:
https://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg18146.html

The URL destination host may not want to load that URL+cid= # , which is why
the link would fail to load. But if you highlight & copy the actual URL text
from the post [
https://electrek.co/2016/09/02/varsovia-motor-electric-concept-car-mobile-office/
], and then paste it into a browser and launch that URL, it likely will open
the page OK.

Why does nabble put a useless cid number on posted links, making those
links not open, thus frustrating users? ... (perhaps it was a frustrated
programmer that enjoys causing hell for uses?).

*** If only there were a way to remove all cid= numbers from the nabble
archived posts,
and prevent nabble from attaching any further cid numbers to URLs.
