I agree with David, a non-working 2012 is probably only worth $3,000.

If it requires a HV pack swap ($7,500 for new) that's $10,500, which is the price of a used 2015/2016 Leaf.

It would probably cost $2,500 to get a surplus leaf battery, plus labor to swap the modules over, so even a DIY mechanic is looking at 3,000+2,500 + labor..... and has to weigh that cost against $5,500 for a working 2013 leaf which would probably have similar range.

Beth, I'm not qualified to appraise your car, and I can't even guess what
you might get for it.  However, a look at some Leaves sold recently on Ebay
shows 6 examples from 2011 to 2013 that went for between $3000 and $3700.
They were in decent running condition, had 7-8 battery bars, and claimed
ranges around 50 miles.

On the higher end, a couple sold for $5500.

Another Leaf with 35 mile range went for less than $2750 ("best offer

appeared to have a solid body (California car) sold for $2650.

I'm no expert, but I think that a large part of the reason for the low
prices on these older Leaves is that battery size and range - and thus
overall utility - on newer EVs has increased dramatically.  These older
Leaves are attractive in many ways, but they're left at the EVSE by the
current 62kWh model, which IMO is a pretty decent value.
