There's another possiblity, at least worth looking at to rule out rather
than ignore. Change to either a self hosted system or to a relatively
low cost system that does what we want. I did a quick search with
chatgpt's help. Here are two possiblities:
groups.io
- about $400 per year for 1000 members.
- content fully searchable by search engine crawlers
- internal search
- has a web interface and an email-based interface (similar to this)
- daily digests available
- has moderation tools
- supports photos and some other stuff
mailman 3 + hyperkitty
(this is "mature" software but does what we need, I think)
- open source (no cost), but you have to pay for a host, probably about
$100/year
- cpanel hosting
- content fully searchable by search engine crawlers
- has a web interface and an email-based interface (similar to this)
- daily digests available
- has moderation tools
- supports photos
There are more tools available that have web interfaces but are weak on
email based interaction.
