Yet, that is not enough to explore reality.
You just scolded John Mikes for assuming he knew what reality is.
You don't need to know what reality is to explore it. If that was the
case, science would not exists at all. That is why science can be said
to be based on faith in an (unknown) reality. Then our assumptions and
theories are just interrogation, and we never pretend it is true. The
exploration of reality is done with usually false theories, that we
can correct or abandon when refuted by sufficiently repeatable facts.
