Liz didn't say that, I did. Okay… then well put John. Inflation does a lot to simplify; the question is why stop searching for even more fundamental simplifying theories. Is the physically manifested universe/multiverse describable through some Information Theory that hypothesize how reality emerges naturally from information itself, in a process of information self reflectively informing itself. There are a fair number of interesting ideas in this group on this subject – as well as lively debates on other subjects.
