Critics exist to criticise, to provide critiques (opinions) and make criticisms
of existing ideas. For the professional critic, proposing or inventing ideas is
always someone else's job. Criticism is by its very nature negative or Black
Hat thinking ie one style of thinking out of many. Many people like to style
themselves as "the resident Black Hat thinker" which is not surprising at all
since it turns out that criticising existing ideas is the easiest form of
thinking.

Actually we don't need critics making their "critiques" at all. What we need is
for ALL thinkers to know when to wear the Black Hat and when not to wear it. As
usual the role of criticism is supposed to be a constructive one but I'm afraid
that's an oxymoron as criticism is always negative and that's its function.
